The valley is often subject to traffic restrictions to avoid overcrowding (New Year festivities, all weekends in winter and in August), in which case it is for access only. Other times, mainly due to the risk of avalanches in the section of the road between La Palud and Planpincieux, access may be prohibited and residents of the hotel will have to be evacuated: such events cannot be foreseen therefore drivers must take the risk of not being able to access their accommodation for a period of time.
